All children wear traditional white Gi's with the option of white or black and red bottoms. They work through the same grading syllabus as the adult ju-jitsu class and are expected to respect higher grades and the dojo in the same manner as the adults would.
The class consist of time to learn traditional syllabus drills and skills for grading along side the practical side of sparring, judo randory and grappling. There is also time for some fun games that incorporate martial arts skills without the children realising what they are learning.
Where ever possible skills are taught in a way that represents children's lives and the problems that they face such as dealing with bullies or playground scuffles. The idea behind the scenarios is to teach children the skills needed to deal effectively and efficiently as they arise hopefully defusing problems before they escalate.
There are two specific classes a week and a female instructor takes the class with a male assistant. The age range starts from 4 (as long as they have started school not still at nursery) and extends to 13 years old.
Classes are held on a Monday and Wednesday 5.30 to 6.30 and cost £2.50 per session. All children will need a licence which is a from of insurance. This is £10 for year 1 and £8 for subsequent years
